Four Irish sisters, Cathy, Irene, Sharon and Lisa together made a decision back in 1995, to invest time and money into forming a Karaoke/Cabaret group and set out on the long and exciting journey into ‘Show Business.’

The girls, along with three brothers, were born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Their parents, Gerry and Irene, struggled through some difficult times in the late 60’s, early 70’s, when the ‘Troubles’ in Northern Ireland were at their worst. Their father, Gerry, had made a name for himself as one of Northern Ireland’s most popular Cabaret vocal artist and was well respected on both sides of the ‘Religious Divide.’ Their mother, Irene, while working hard to raise the children and keep the family stable through the very volatile and violent times, still managed to teach the children her own skills in dance and vocal harmony. At the same time, Gerry was passing on his own expertise in entertainment.

To cut a long story short, music was always on the agenda in the Gibbons household. Hardly ever a weekend went by without sound of music, singing and laughter. It was an essential way for most Irish families to cope within the ever-increasing fear that people had to live with at the time. As a result, the family thrived as a very close unit and at the same time acquiring some very important artistic skills, which would prove to be the unique and fundamental foundation upon which ‘SHANNON’ was created.
